Emily Oster, an economist at Brown University and self-styled parenting expert, wrote an article last year in the Atlantic basically offering an extremely limited apology for the Covid restrictions. All Emily could muster was acknowledging that outdoor masking and educating kids via video conferencing maybe wasn’t such a good idea. There was no admission on Emily’s part that the mRNA injections were dangerous, killing, and injuring multitudes worldwide. In fact, she continues to promote the deadly jabs by calling for future mandates.
My Apology is my take on the nature of Emily’s contrition in song. Here are the lyrics:
MY APOLOGY
(v1) Here is my apology
Accept it now, you must agree
I employ psychology
Do not question my sobriety
Please join me now in this great parade
I acknowledge mistakes were made
There’s no need to be afraid
My goal is clear: it’s to persuade
Chorus: I am sorry, can’t you see?
These were misdemeanors, not felonies
We can’t be blamed for such policies
Made in a time of great uncertainty
(v2) Yes we broke some minor rules
Kept the kids, all out of school
Took away some learning tools
Too much “Zoom”—it wasn’t cool
Another error we embraced
Went outside and covered our face
That is not such a disgrace
Pardon us for our mistake
Chorus: I am sorry, can’t you see?
These were misdemeanors, not felonies
We can’t be blamed for such policies
Made in a time of great uncertainty
Bridge: Only we may authorize
And permit who’ll apologize
This should come as no surprise
On occasion we misspoke
Often times we go for broke
There’s no shame in being woke
(v3) Instrumental
But there’s one thing you can’t refute
We’re always in need of new recruits
All these jabs we’ll institute
If you refuse, we’ll persecute
Chorus: Now I’ll sign off gracefully
Hoping you’ll believe I’m free
Ignoring this slavery
You will finally hold the key
If it’s clear and plain to see
It’s nothing more than my lame apology
When someone "apologizes" by saying "I'm sorry this happened" ("mistakes were made") that is really a non-apology. A real apology is "I'm sorry I did this to you and it hurt you. How can I make it up to you?"
This is truth singing
